LICE R.D.C.

We had our suspicions that there might be a larger offering from Bristol experimentalists LICE on the cards, and today our inklings have been confirmed. Following their exhilarating/abrasive recent-ish singles 'Conveyor' and 'Arbiter', new track 'R.D.C.' is another thrilling taste of the quartet's newly announced debut album WASTELAND: What Ails Our People Is Clear. Serving as another crucial part of the concept album, which the band describe as "a satire about satire", R.D.C.'s tight and ominous rhythm section draws similarities with legendary producer/engineer Steve Albini's own band Shellac, whilst guitarist Silas Dilkes expressive and unhinged guitar work sits somewhere between that of The Birthday Party's Rowland S. Howard and an Ennio Morricone soundtrack on acid. Intense and uncompromising in the best way possible, we'll be waiting patiently until the 8th of January to hear WASTELAND in full. -Holly Mullineaux
